(sul)
Plastic Bottles Turned Into Souvenir Dolls
KEDIRI – Creativity does not look at age. With creativity and strong will, used goods can be transformed into valuable items that make money. That’s what Endang Supriyani, 51, a resident of Turus Village, Gampengrejo District, did. He turns used bottles into doll craft creations that are worth selling.
According to Endang, the idea of making dolls from used bottles began when he saw a pile of plastic trash scattered around his house, making the atmosphere seem dirty. He immediately thought how to make the trash useful. So, he started trying to do it, tampered with until it became a valuable item. “For plastic bottle caps, I made souvenirs. Meanwhile, I made dolls for the bottles. The models themselves vary, there are graduation, bridal dolls, police, soldiers, and others,” said Endang, when met at his house.
As a result, these souvenir products are quite attractive to the public. When sold at tourist spots, a product that has been practiced for about 3 years, many are interested. So he continues to make souvenir products.
Meanwhile, for the manufacturing process, she was assisted by her husband. Because the materials and tools are also easy to find, you don’t need to be too bothered. “The prices vary, from Rp. 3 thousand to Rp. 30 thousand,” he said.
It’s just that, during this pandemic, sales decreased dramatically. Because, many tourist attractions are closed. Endang hopes that the pandemic will soon pass, so that sales of tourist souvenir products can return to normal. (sul)
