(mam)

Ramadan Night, 3 Book Suspects Detained

The Case of the Education Office Book Procurement Project

KEDIRI – Three suspects in the case of alleged corruption in the book procurement project at the Kediri City Education Office in 2018, probably never imagined that they would have to be detained by the Kediri District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari), right on the first night of Ramadan, Monday (12/4/2021), in the midst of Muslims are rejoicing in welcoming the holy month and preparing to start tarawih prayer.
Imam Sofa, former Commitment Making Officer (PPKom) for the book procurement project, Suyita, a partner from CV. Surya Edukasi, and Suparmin from PT. Intan Pariwara. They had to be taken into custody at around 6:00 p.m. when the evening call to prayer echoed, right on the first night of Ramadan, after they were investigated as suspects at the Kediri City Prosecutor’s Office.
The appointment of Imam Sofa as a suspect has indeed been widely predicted. This is because previously in the community there were many rumors that he seemed to be “sacrificed” alone in the case of alleged corruption in the book procurement project. During the examination as a suspect, Imam Sofa was accompanied by legal advisor (PH) Samanhudi SH. Sedangka Suyitna and Suparmin accompanied by Rini SH.
The Head of Special Crimes (Pidsus) Nur Ngali SH explained that the detention was carried out because the evidence and testimony of the witnesses were deemed sufficient. So they were designated as suspects and immediately detained. Previously, they had their health checked by a health team who was brought to the prosecutor’s office. “They are suspects with their respective roles,” said Nur Ngali, when met after the detention of the three suspects.
According to Nur Ngali, there was a number of pieces of evidence confiscated by the prosecutor’s office, including a number of cellphones, files for book procurement projects, and money worth around Rp 187 million. “We are still doing an in-depth examination of this case. In this in-depth examination, there may still be new suspects. However, the in-depth examination results will still be seen later, “said Nur Ngali.
When asked about some of the names that are widely mentioned in society, Nur Ngali did not dare to think about anything. Because the prosecutor’s office relies on the evidence and testimony of the witnesses during the examination. (mam)
