Singing Sholawat, Asking Postpone Election

Only 4 people, send a letter to Jokowi

KEDIRI – The suggestion from PBNU and PP Muhammadiyah that wants the Pilkada to be postponed simultaneously is starting to get a response from the community at the grassroots level. A total of four residents of Grogol Village, Grogol District, held a peaceful demonstration with “Sholawat Distanching” at the KPU office in Kediri Regency, asking that the election be postponed. Because at the time of the election at the voting booth, the danger of Covid-19 was enormous. They also sent a letter to President Jokowi through the KPU of Kediri Regency, in order to postpone the election . “This is for humanity. For the safety of all Kediri people, ”said Hartono Basingkem, Korlap action.
In the action yesterday, Hartono and his friends carried a banner with the words “Sholawat Distanching” and a paper bag that read “Postpone the election ” while carrying the recitation of prayer accompanied by the art of hadrah. They walked from the gate to the KPU office yard while continuing to chant their prayers. Before they could enter the KPU yard, they were also stopped by the police so they did not enter the courtyard. However, a few moments later, they were allowed to enter the KPU office yard.
While on the KPU yard, they returned to chanting prayers accompanied by the art of hadrah. Hartono also read a letter sent to President Jokowi and to the chairman of the KPU Kediri Regency in a theatrical style, so that the election should be postponed. Because the danger of Covid -19 in the Pilkada could threaten anyone, including the voters and organizers, then submitted the two letters to the head of the KPU, Ninik Sumarni.
Meanwhile, Nanang Qosim, a commissioner for the KPU of Kediri Regency explained that his party could only accept the letter but could not make a decision. Because the KPU of Kediri Regency only implements RI KPU decisions. Nanang also considered the peaceful demonstration as part of evidence of people’s attention and participation in the Pilkada. “This action is part of community participation. We will receive the letter and will continue it, ”said Nanang. (sul / mam)
